Why New Orleans Matters is in!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I was afraid that it would be filled with lists and statistics about hurricane Katrina, and no heart behind them. I am very impressed. Piazza has very close emotional ties to New Orleans and they show through in his writing. The restaurants and names that he mentions are run by friends and loved ones. When he talks about their destruction it is very personal. So far there aren't any numbers, there are only people and their stories of survival. I can sympathize with people, but I feel nothing for lists and data collections. This is definitely better than I expected.
He writes about life in New Orleans, the food, the music and the spirit.

  1. Hi Ashley it's Kristina! :)

I totally agree with this, and I think it's what makes the book so good. He's not giving us a list of facts and numbers, but he's telling a story about people. I really like the random people that he runs into on the street. Their stories are wonderful and they're always so colorful!
